Professor Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin
Prof Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin is an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Ghana. She is also the Head of the Department of Communication Studies in the University. She has over 15 years of professional experience in academia, with her interests as scholar, researcher, advocate and practitioner straddling marketing communication, media development and gender.
She is an active scholar who has worked on several projects including the Status of Women in the Ghanaian Media Report and State of the Ghanaian Media Report. Her works have been widely presented and published in local and international conferences and journals.
She is also frequently invited to speak at both local and internal fora including by the gender section of the International Association of Media and Communication Research and the University of London’s Institute of Commonwealth Studies.
She serves on several local and international boards including the Executive Committee of the Africa Office of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative. She is a member of the International Council of the International Association of Media and Communication
Research, and Co-chair of its Organisational Communication Working Group. She also Co-chairs the Steering Committee of the Alliance for Women in Media Africa.
Prof Yeboah-Banin is presently a Fellow of the Media Foundation for West Africa.
