Patience Akofa Agala
Patience Akofa Agala serves as the Head of Operations at CAPS-WA, where she oversees the coordination and execution of strategic initiatives that promote sustainable security and governance solutions in West Africa. With a Master of Arts in Gender, Peace, and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from the University of Ghana, Akofa brings a solid academic foundation to her leadership role. She also holds a diploma from Université Charles de Gaulle Lille 3, France.
Akofa has accumulated nearly two years of experience in operational leadership, contributing significantly to program planning, peacebuilding, and gender advocacy. Her international portfolio includes engagements with organizations such as the United Nations Department of Peace Operations (DPO) and the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP). At the UN Secretariat, she supported research, strategic communication, and policy development while managing event coordination and database systems. During her tenure at WANEP, she was instrumental in data analysis, report writing, and providing logistical support for regional initiatives.
As Head of Operations, Akofa leads the operational integration of CAPS-WA’s programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives. Her leadership extends to mentoring younger professionals as part of CAPS-WA’s Mentoring Peace Program, where she embodies the organization’s commitment to fostering the next generation of peacebuilders.
Fluent in French and proficient in research and data analysis, Akofa excels in gender mainstreaming, program management, and cross-cultural collaboration. She is certified in UN Women Training on Gender Concepts and has completed the WANEP Youth Transformational Empowerment and Mentorship Programme. Her passion for community resilience drives her to empower women, youth, and marginalised groups and advocate for inclusive peace and security practices.
In her personal time, Akofa volunteers with community organisations to enhance local peace initiatives, reflecting her dedication to creating meaningful change across West Africa.
